You have probably seen plenty of celebrities in recent times get arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and thought “that could never happen to me.” If you have suddenly ended up in this position, you may be feeling stressed and scared.

Georgia DUI Lawyers DUI is a very serious crime in Georgia. Even for a first time offense you may face time in jail, hefty fines, community service and a driver’s license suspension. There are other consequences that will put a dent in your wallet – you will be responsible for the cost associated with counseling, drug and alcohol evaluation, and probation. These fees can reach up to $20,000 in some jurisdictions. If the judge orders you to have an ignition interlock device installed in your car, you will also be responsible for the installation and monthly monitoring fees.

Those are just the legal ramifications of a DUI conviction.  You will also face higher insurance rates, if your insurance company doesn’t drop you altogether. Your job may also be at risk. With more and more employers requiring a clean criminal and/or driving record, you may lose the job you currently have or find difficulty in obtaining future employment.

You may be tempted to give up and just plead guilty, thinking that you have no chance of winning anyway. However, it you settle for pleading guilty, you will definitely face the above-mentioned penalties.

Because DUI is one of the most complicated fields of law, you shouldn’t try to fight the charges yourself. You also shouldn’t go to just any law firm. A DUI charge is difficult to defend, which is why you need to hire a firm that specialized on DUI defense.

This is where Gregory A. Willis, Esq. of the Law Office of Gregory A. Willis can help. The attorneys of the firm handle cases like yours everyday. As the largest DUI firm in Georgia, we have the knowledge and know-how to have the charges in your case minimized or even dropped.

Mr. Willis has helped clients with serious DUI charges get away clean. Together we can fight your DUI charge and avoid the penalties that come with it.

Common Police Mistakes and DUI

Police officers, believe it or not tend to make mistakes during a DUI arrest. And their mistakes could cost you a lot. But the Law Office of Gregory A. Willis is determined to point out their faults.

Here is what we look for when representing you:
  1. Did the officer stop a vehicle without probably cause or articulable suspicion?
  2. Was a roadblock that you were stopped at established or setup improperly?
  3. Did the officer merely smell alcohol and then place you under arrest? (You can only be arrested in the State of Georgia if you have an unlawful blood alcohol content).
  4. Were field sobriety tests administered and scored not in compliance with the officer's own training?
  5. Did they read the Implied Consent Notice during the arrest?
  6. The officer has 3 Implied Consent Notice forms to choose from. Were you read the correct form?
  7. Were your Miranda rights read at the time of arrest?
  8. Did the officer try to get your consent to consent to search the vehicle when it had nothing to do with the initial stop?
  9. Do the officer's own allegations correlate to the video of the stop and arrest?
  10. Did the officer try to change/destroy/hide the video if it does not agree with his own allegations?

You'll know that you've picked the right defense attorney when they ask the tough questions!
